How To Start Using Facebook Ads For Your Business
Testing is the forefront of every Facebook Ad Campaign; set an objective and do it right.
Our client’s always like to ask “How many ads are we going to get?” when working with us.
There’s no easy answer to that question, considering how much work is put into a Facebook Ad campaign. There’s a whole lot more that goes into getting a campaign to work the way you want it to. It’s not magic. It’s hard freaking work.
The truth is that sometimes it takes more than one ad to get the results you want. I know, we all wish it was that easy to put one ad out and get all this money coming it. But that’s not the way the world works.
It’s going to take an awfully good ad to get your campaign to work perfectly on the first go WITHOUT testing. And even then, you have to know your audience, check your numbers, and hope your ad doesn’t die.
Facebook Ads is a testing game.
You’re more than likely NOT going to get it right on the first go around, NOT WITHOUT testing FIRST.
A lot of people like to jump into Facebook Ads doing a million different things. They don’t know what to focus on!
The problem with doing too much is that you won’t know when things go wrong with your Facebook Ads strategy. That’s you ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, work on one thing as you go.
Learn to optimize!
Facebook Ads is a process. It requires some patience. The only way to get it right is by doing things one step at a time. Don’t try to do everything at once. Most of the time, that’s how you messed up your entire campaign.
First, you’re going to have to set your campaign objective in Ads Manager.
This is crucial. Every decision you make with Facebook Ads needs to be deliberate. There can’t be any sense of doubt. You need to know what you’re aiming for. If you don’t, then simply DON’T run the ad. But if you do, align your campaign objective with the goals of your business.
Set your sights on one thing and strive to meet that goal with every move you make. Simple enough, right?
Next, break down your campaign into different ad sets, each with their own distinct audience.
You’re going to target your audience based on several factors. Interests, demographics, behaviors, you name it…
You should test whatever is relevant to your industry. Cover as much ground as possible for the best result.
At the beginning you’re only going to want to use ONE ad. This is the best way to test your audiences. Chances are not every audience will work, but the right one will stick out to you.
Once you find the ‘perfect audience‘, test the content of your ads.
When testing your content, you want to figure out what messaging or approach is most appropriate the particular audience you’ve identified.
ALWAYS test your audience FIRST. If you want to be successful at Facebook Ads, you’re to know your audience BEFORE you do anything else.
