Understanding the lifecycle of a Facebook ad is very important. Just like all things, ads run their course. They grow, they peak, and then they die.

The lifecycle of a Facebook ad can vary from place to place. But mostly, it’s always lives it out through three-stages before naturally finding its end. This doesn’t change no matter if you are doing your ads yourself or with an agency.

period of growth

First, there is a period of scaling.

Your ad results will improve steadily before reaching its prime. Over the past 6 years, we’ve tested ads of many ad types. It usually takes about five days for an ad to reach its peak result.

There are cases where it happens sooner than expected or sometimes later, but on average you should wait five days for your ads best results.

Next, comes a period of stabilization.

Eventually, your ad results will stabilize, remain consistent, and thrive. This can be tricky because ad results vary from ad to ad.

It could be years, months, weeks or even days before you see a decline in your ad results. But as soon as you see a dip, it’s safe to say it’s time for a new ad.

the death of a facebook ad

The end of an ads life comes in the decline of your ad results.

The only way to know for sure if you need a new ad is to look at the numbers. As you should know, there is nothing more important than the numbers with Facebook Ads.

The best way you can track the lifecycle of your ad is by watching your numbers day-in, day-out, each and every day.

I can’t stress this enough. Checking your numbers is the only way to tell if your ad is doing what it should be doing and whether you need to try something, fresh, new, or different.

The Facebook Ads Manager makes this easy for you. With it, you have a wealth of valuable resources at your disposal. Use it to plan your Facebook Ad strategy and track your ad from beginning to end.
